Everyone loves Santa!

So meeting Santa was a hit!

We practiced saying "ho-ho-ho" since thanksgiving,
and I think it really paid off.

Isn't it funny that his babysitter is taking a pic with her cell phone? :)

Anniversary take two...

We celebrated 6 years of bliss the weekend before Thanksgiving.
That celebration was fun, but could have been better.

You know how it's nice to go to a quaint little romantic place for the big A day?
We usually find one of those, but this year we accidently went to more of a family joint with lots of commotion, teenagers, and noise from the kitchen in our ears.
Good place to eat, just not for the anniversary. We made the best of the night though and did one of my favorite things... went shopping for Ladd!
I love picking clothes out for him-- with him, :)
We also enjoyed the best icecream on earth after the shopping was done. Farrs I love you!

To make up for our restaurant disappointment, we went out this weekend with our wonderful friends "the Bubses" to a sweet little cabin-like restaurant called Taggarts.
You should go!!! The food is divine and it makes you feel like you are in "Jackson Hole"-- that is what my mom said when she went the next day. :)

Thanks Mindee, for taking this pic of me and my babe on our 6th anniversary II!
And thanks for sharing it with us!
{notice the to-go boxes-- the dessert is divine!!}
Love you Ladd!

Ike and some of his girly friends...

Thanksgiving weekend has been wonderful!

Ike was a bit of a loner without Sammy here for the holiday but he still found fun with his girly cousins. We missed pictures with Haliegh and Wyatt but loved seeing them too!

A few pics of the backyard fun post dinner...

Ike had just had a sippy cup full of cream soda. Energized and ready to play!!!
I was regretting that beverage choice later in the evening.

Miss Breely... the leader of the pack! I feel like she was born yesterday!

Comedian Avery. Her latest funny was when her mom and dad explained that they did not have cell phones growing up. She replied with a gasp and then, "You mean you had to text??!!"

Princess Paisley. Melts your heart while she sings "Hot-dog, hot-dot, hot diggity dog."
Those are the Barfuss girls!

Here is Hals and Wyatt.
These were taken in the summer, but I couldn't leave them out. :)

Care for a red marshmallow?

I felt like Ike was in the movie A Christmas Story
last weekend when I bundled him up to go "play" in the snow.

Poor kid wasn't as fond of the white stuff as I thought he'd be.
His little hands were freezing due to lack of gloves.
Picked some up today though-- so we will try again next snow.

I think this is the millionth picture with Paris.
She is famous on my blog and she isn't even my dog.
We love her like she is part of our family though. :)

Here I am asking him:
"Oh Ikey! What do you think of the snow??"
You can get his full response from the photo.

And here is his fake smile to please me.
Gotta love it! I love my red marshmallow-man!

Have a happy Thanksgiving friends!!!

Mom-of-the-year needed a new post...

Well, I hate seeing the same blog post up for too long,
so here are some words from the heart today.... (Rambling really).

Feeling like MOTY (see post title if you don't follow the abbreviation) this week as my boy has a ear infection, a cold, and second degree burns on his palm. You'd never think that snuggling your sick baby on the couch (by the fire) could turn into a blistered burned hand in seconds.
He got away way too quick when I set him down. I felt terrible!
Why the heck is the glass not heat resistant???!!!
I'm afraid he didn't learn a lesson about "HOT" from the experience either.
I'm afraid he thinks I had something to do with the pain because I grabbed him right as he reached out and touched the burning hot surface. Does he think mommy made him hurt so bad?
I took him to the doc for his cold that same day and I'm glad I did-- they put him on an antibiotic, which is now helping fight off infection on his icky palm.

The week is a blur. I'm hoping the weekend has vivid memory making--
two fabulous things are happening...

1. I am getting my hair done! Sounds lame but I am so excited that I need a word 20 letters long to explain how happy this makes me.

2. We are celebrating our 6th anniversary!
Makes us sound old huh?
Gettin' hitched super young was great--we will easily see the golden years of marriage.
Will you rock with me on the porch when we are old farts Ladd?
I really can't believe it's been six years!
Let the golden years rock on!
Love you babe!

Out with the girls on Saturday afternoon...

If every girl in Morgan is as sweet as these two,
I think I want to raise my kids out there.

I had so much fun with these glamorous gals-- capturing their "senior pictures".

They are both as beautiful inside, as they are out.
Pretty much a dream come true for me to photograph.

Still working on their photos, but here are a few favorites so far...

Thanks for such a fun day out girls!
Hope to see you again!

Ready, set!

Hut, hut! Go long daddy!
I'm the football star in this family!

Whew, I'm tired! That game really wore me out!

I'm going in for a PB&J!

Oh, wait, first I better go say goodnight to my doggie next door.
Yes, I am walking to the doggie! Leaving my Tonka truck behind. :)
Happy Sunday!

We are family.

I am so happy that I fell for my guitar-playin' skater boy back in the day.

I really can't believe it's been almost six years since we tied the knot.

And I still have a hard time believing we are playing
the "mommy and daddy" role to this adorable little boy.

Never imagined it could be so fun!

I feel lucky. And lucky can easily be replaced with blessed.
We have hard days here and there (like everyone), but they are worth it.
Enjoy the happy ones, learn from the tough ones.
Life is short and sweet.
Make every day one to remember.

Her hubs is named Ladd too!

Went to Ree's book signging for her beautiful cookbook on Wednesday.
Had a blast listening to her Q&A.
She was so down to earth and genuine-- just like on her blog.

The best part was when a lady spoke out and asked "what is Marlboro Man's real name?"
When Ree replied, "Ladd" I got all excited and shouted out over the crowd
"that's my husband's name too!"
I think I embarrassed myself and my friend, Shannon, but hey it's not every day you have something so unusual in common with THE Pioneer Woman!
I'm a big big fan of this lady. Stood in line for way too long to get her signiture, and still went home empty handed. I guess other Utah women love her too.
(like I didn't know that already though!)
P.S. PW if you are reading this, I apologize for my lack of technique with these pics.
I promise I do usually try to practice what you teach me!
You love a good strong flash right? :)
With 500 people around, it's the best I could do to hold my camera up in the sky and hope for results.
Much prettier pictures can be seen HERE of her Utah appearance!

I am a wanna be Californian....

The only good thing about family living far away
is when you get to go see them!
We were lucky enough to make a trip to beautiful San Diego
to visit Ladd's sister, Natalie, and her crew last week.
We had a blast getting to know the kids again--we had not seen them in over a year.

Big brother Harlan (and Ike's oldest cousin)
is the "man of the house" while his dad is sailing at sea.
He does a great job being mom's helper/babysitter/and late night buddy.
Ike was mesmerized by Harlan.
We had a great time taking him to the beach with us!

Miss Nya is a sweetheart. She gives great hugs and is a fashion diva!
You would never guess this but Nya LOVES Napoleon Dynamite.
She quotes the movie all the time.
We got her the soundtrack for her birthday! :)
Talk about a cool girl!

Little Rhett "Rhetty-Rooster" had us laughing hard the whole trip.
He and I have a lot in common...we both love diet soda and chocolate!
He sneaks into the fridge when he can and takes a sip of his mom's drink.
It must have some mega vitamins or something in it
because this boy is super smart and handsome!

Miss Hazel is the princess of the house.
She loves to sit by her big sister and watch music videos of Hannah Montana.
I loved seeing these two sisters play so well together--
made me miss the days of growing up with my sisters.

Natalie is super-mom keeping everything in order and super organized.
She motivated me to come home and hang more photos on the walls,
make things look prettier in my home, and be a better mom.
It was a treat for Ikey to meet his "Aunt Nattie" for the first time.

While we were visiting, we were excited to see the San Diego temple!
It's b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.!

"I love to see the temple... I'll go inside someday..."
Love you babe!

Old Town was another fun stop.
I loved the Spanish tiles and historic buildings everywhere.
Should have taken more photos there.

Our favorite outing was seeing
Coronado Island.
We went to the beach there and had blast!
Ike got to see the ocean for the first time as well as eat sand. :)

As Ladd says, "With great mustache comes great responsibility."

We went back out to Coronado for a date--just the two of us
(thanks for keeping Ike for us Natalie!).
It's not everyday you get to take a walk on the beach with your sweetheart.
No pics from the date, but it was very nice. :)

I loved being able to get to know this crew a little better in the four days we spent with them.

Thanks for letting us come see you California babes!
We had a blast!

Before we left on vacation I had the treat of taking some fun family pics for an old family friend.

I used to get baby-sat at Candice's house while I was growing up.
Now she has a beautiful family of her own.
The fall colors were so beautiful in Logan!
I miss living there!

Candice and her sweetie just celebrated their 10 year anniversary!
Congrats guys!
Thanks for such a fun night Randall family!!!

Halloween
was my favorite holiday so far with our baby boy!
It was so fun seeing him walk in his monkey costume!
(I failed to photo the walk. dang it!)
He just started taking his first steps 5 days earlier.
Our parents gasped when they saw him walk in to say hi!
Surprise grandma and grandpa!!

Ike and some of his girly-friends/cousins! The B girls love to dress up and do it so well!
Paisley was a princess, Avery is a "dead bride", and Breely was a "dead prom queen." :)

Baby Beckam the bear and Ike had a great time cuddling in their cozy outfits.
I am hoping these two are great buds just like their dads!
We feel so blessed to have such great friends!

Whew! that may have been the longest post ever.
Sorry if you fell asleep!

Little vacation in a long post!

On the road again!

No complaints here when Ladd has to travel for work, and we get to tag along! We were back up in Jackson this week and had a ball! It was a different game with a toddler rather than a sleeping baby. We had to find pit stops better than just the Maverick gas station. Parks are much better than fountain drinks though! Ike even rode his first dinosaur! :)
A little time to roam around and we were ready to roll again.

Back on the road we go....

Took another pit stop to fill up at the pump a little later.
I like this gas station a lot! :)
(thanks for introducing us to it Mark and Mindee!)

And we finally made it!!
We made it back to the Love Ridge Condos as I hoped we would. I am in LOVE with them!
We were lucky to get a privately owned unit that is rented out when the owners are not around. The reason why this was so great is that they had everything and anything we ever needed there! --A laptop (so appreciated to keep me busy while Ike napped and so that Ladd could do homework), lots of kiddo dishes and goods stashed in the cupboards
(hope they didn't mind we used sippy cups and stuff), movies, a fan to fog the noise when Ike was sleeping, and more... we were set!

The view wasn't too bad either.
Didn't even mind that it rained off and on. It was still such a beautiful place!

Ike Enjoying the view.

Some fabulous news!
The Candy store is NOT closed!
We thought this place was turned into another art museum,
but turns out it's still up and going-- 15 years strong to be exact!
Go getcha some yummy treats before you see the "shoot out" if you are ever up in Jackson.

Just take note that the store closes early in the "off season".
The photos below were taken outside the shop
as we cried about the CLOSED sign on the door. :(

Trying to be happy though! :)
These lit-up antler wreaths cheered me up.
Don't they just sing CHRISTMAS!?

While Ladd was working 8-5 Ike and I stayed busy with the usual...
Playing outside--- since our place was up on the hill I was so worried about him rolling away, so I had a great idea when I saw the tennis courts!-- Lock him up and let him roam! Perfect!
He doesn't look happy, but believe me, he was. :)
I sure do love this boy!

And of course we had to bring trucks and such to play inside!

Jackson Hole was THE vacation spot in my younger years.
My family went camping there every summer and I loved it!
We would camp 30 minutes out of town in gorgeous spots along the Snake River and then we would drive into "town" to see a play, go out to eat, see the Bar-J- Wranglers, and more.
Ah, those were fun times. Thanks mom and dad!

I'm happy we live close enough to good ol' JH
that I can go with my own little family now!

**{Ladd, Thank you for working hard for our family!
YOU make every single thing possible for us now babe.
I love you and I'm so proud of you}.**

My cooking sidekick!

Does it drive you crazy, yet you secretly love having your toddler exploring the kitchen while you cook? If so, you and I have something in common!

Ike is 13 months old and full of more curiosity every single day!
Love every day with him!

10.09.2009

I am in love with a lumber man!

Yes girls,
that bottom lip is very kissable!
My little lumber man is chopping firewood to prepare for winter today!

We go through different stages of "fun" in the mommy-hood game,
and I'm really liking this stage right now (minus all the throwing of food during meals).
I loved the baby stage, (and miss it lots) but this "little buddy" stage is great too!

This week we went on a little drive to see fall colors and to a pumpkin patch!
I love these days with just me and the Ikester! He is so funny!

He wasn't too happy when he got stuck in the pile of pumpkins! I laughed hard though!

We loved Conference weekend -- spent it cuddling while it was wet and cold outide.
We were disappointed to find no hot chocolate in our cupboards though!
(Going to the store for that today)!

There was a peek of Sunshine we enjoyed for a minute though!

I am thrilled to call myself
"mommy" to this little rascal!
{and I'm also looking forward to a date night away tonight}.

10.08.2009

I'm going to meet her!

Is any one else excited to meet
the Pioneer Woman
in SLC on November 4th?!
I usually follow HER SITE for photography info, but this gal is a girl of many trades and she has just finished a beautiful cookbook!
She is on book tour for this mouth watering work of art. Are you going to go?
I hope she gives me a big ol' hug or something!

Monkeys and Dragons out and about!

Yesterday was a great day!

I said I wasn't ready for Monday, but what was I thinking??

We had a birthday lunch with my good friend Shannon, and our buddy Weston,
at Gardner Village!

It was the Perfect time to go and enjoy pumpkins galore,
witches, and of course the Archibald Restaurant!
My silly monkey and his darling dragon friend!
A sweet lady was helping us to get the boys to smile for pictures.
Little did she know that the moms were smiling the biggest when she said
"Oh, what a cute bear and alligator!!" Hahha!
Hey, bears eat bananas too I guess. :)

Fabulous day out! Thanks for a little girl time Shannon!

9.27.2009

a few fun moments...

Man, the weekends go way too fast!
Back to the groove tomorrow and I'm not ready for it.
Please pass me another fun weekend soon!

We had a good time at one of my favorite places on Friday...
Does anyone else love hanging out at this fountain?
I secretly dreamed of the day I'd be able to take my kids there
when the Gateway was built back in the day.
Ladd was "the man" with the camera and took some fun shots!
I love these because we don't get a lot of pictures of us playing together very often.
So, here is a bunch! {for selfish purposes}.

Ikester is trying to learn how to walk now.
The kid is so tall that I bet he thinks he is standing on
a cliff when he's not planted on his bum.
Check out his cute crooked teeth and large feet! Sure do love everything about him!
Size 5 shoe! I bet he's like me and will quit all this growing when he reaches 5th grade.
{side note: I was 5'3" in 5th grade and I don't think I've grown an inch since. }

His latest doings are:
Pointing and jabbering about whatever he sees
Showing us his belly
Bouncing to the beat with tunes
Reaching up to us and almost standing on his own
Being a stinker about feeding himself-- this involves lots of throwing food!
Laying on his back in the tub to kick the water like crazy!

We are enjoying this beautiful time of year and trying to pass time
as Ladd finishes his LAST semester of school.
LAST is a beautiful word!

Have a great week!
Do something fun!

9.21.2009

Happy Fall!

Ike's 1st pumpkin on the porch!
Hoodies and hot chocolate here we come!

You know I am a total nut for fall,
so please tell me your favorite recipe, activity, or thing to wear
at this most colorful time of the year!
Happy Fall ya'll!

9.20.2009

DVR please find me!

Wow, a wifey is really needing some DVR right now!
Football season is in full force at our house.
My sweet husband claims he can turn it off to do homework,
but sweetheart, let's face it, you love a good game!
And even if it's not a good game, you keep watching to see if it gets good. ;)
So, maybe if we stop being cheap and we get DVR I could screen the games for him and then he would know which ones are worth watching.
Who votes yes??
{Looks like Ike does in the pic above!}

P.S. Babe, please don't be mad at me for writing this.
I secretly love when you have guy time and watch your football and soccer.
I'll even wear a game day t-shirt and make some manly grub!

Tonight we saw both sides of our families and had a lot of fun.
We always miss our sisters who live far away though! :(

I had fun taking some family pics for Ladd's sister, (Katie) a couple weeks ago.
I am in love with the COLOR they chose to wear!
Here are a few of this super photogenic mom and her crew!

And now that the wedding is over, and
Kasey andDanielle have "tied the knot" I can show you her dress!
(Sherrie this is for you!)
Isn't Dani so pretty!?? Kasey, you are a lucky, lucky man!
Look Kasey, she even thinks about you when she's playing board games! :)

I think this week is open for fun.
Anyone want to have some? What you gonna do?
Ready or not, here comes Monday!

My Halloween outfit...

If I wanted to be classy pumpkin, I'd wear this!
Sadly, this shirt comes from my favorite store of all time!
Forever 21! what were you thinking???

One year old and way too big!

It happened... Our baby turned one!

Eating cake!
He didn't really dig in like most kids.
{Maybe that's because I've given him lots of treats already and he was used to it.} ;)

I wanted a cute big table of food under all these decorations,
but Mr. Sunshine was too hot and ruined my plan. So sad....
